ALSO - We are holding our first PLANNING Meeting for the Fun Fall Festival on Friday, September 30 at 9:00am in the Teachers' Lounge. If you're interested in helping with the festival, this is a perfect meeting for you. I hope to see you there!

Flight For Eagles This Friday - Please Help!

Hi Elmhurst Families:

Here's an update about Friday's Flight for Eagles Jog-A-Thon. We are in need of lots of volunteers for this fun event. If you can stay after drop-off, you can help set up. Otherwise, students will begin warm-ups at 8:30, and I'll need all volunteers in place.

Supplies needed:
6 coolers to hold Popsicles
4 sticks to be used as limbo sticks (can be brooms without brushes, yardsticks, etc.)
Spray water bottles filled with water to cool the joggers (volunteers can bring them from home on the day of the jog-a-thon - just let me know so we have enough)

 

We will run the jog-a-thon from 8:30 - 10:30 am. Please let me know if you can come help. I will put your name on a big poster so you'll know where to go when you arrive. Just meet down on the upper grades basketball courts at about 8:15!

Just a friendly reminder that Back to School Night is Wednesday, September 7th from 5:30 PM - 7:45 PM.

6:15 - 6:45 Introductions and PTA Meeting

6:45 - 7:15 - Classroom Visits (5th grade parents stay in cafeteria)

Red Brick Pizza Dine Out 8.31.11

Come out and join us for dinner. PTA will be hosting a dine out event at Red Brick Pizza on August 31, 2011 from 6 PM - 7PM. Stop by between 6:00 and 6:30 to spot your Kindergarten - 2nd grade teachers and between 6:30 and 7:00 for 3rd - 5th grade teachers.

Teachers receive a $5 gift card when they show their ID.

Welcome Back to School

Welcome back to school for Elmhurst's 2011 - 2012 academic school year. Educating children is a very important job and the Elmhurst PTA needs your help. By joining the PTA you will demonstrate your support of our school, staff and students. Membership funds, in addition to others, make the PTA's many endeavors possible. Some of the enrichment programs sponsored by the PTA include:

• Music - supplemental music curriculum, which involves students in a variety of music experiences
• Technology - internet accessible laptops with document cameras in every class
• Red Ribbon Week - a drug awareness, education and prevention programs
• Assemblies - monthly programs such as music, performance arts and theater arts
• Classroom Grants - monetary contributions for supplemental classroom material
